Hugs to Hold – Everything You Need to Know to be Involved.

Here it is a practical and tangible way to respond to the crisis that has hit Australia. By making a ‘Hug to Hold’ you can send love to someone who needs it.

Hug No.1

This is the place to get involved in making toys for children in Queensland.

Simply make a soft toy, any type (tutorial here if you want one) and post it to the address below.

Join with other crafters to spread hope and demonstrate love to families and children.
Pledge your support by adding a button to your blog, promoting this to your readers and friends, uploading your work into flicker(link coming) and commenting on this post or the tutorial post.
Small print – if your toy includes small parts(eg buttons) please indicate it is not suitable for under 3s.

Send a little message of love with your toy.

Do not wrap it as people will need to assess each toy for its recipient.

Give your toy a name and give a little bit of detail about you if you would like to.

Please make sure you send your toy on time for collection.

Please ensure your toy/s is/are securely wrapped in waterproof wrapping for sending so they arrive in the wonderful condition they left your home in.

‘Hugs to Hold’ is a collaboration between us all to share love and hope with little members of Australia who are experiencing devastating loss.

Post your handmade toy to:

‘Hugs to Hold’

c/o – 27 Planigale Cres
North Lakes QLD 4509

Please post your toy/s by 15th MARCH 2011 so that distributors can be certain to have all the toys before the end of March.

Currently it looks like the toys will be distributed by a local Salvation Army organisation. More info as we receive it!

Please spread the word and let others know you are  involved so we can all be encouraged by each other.

If you want any other information please click on the ‘hugs to hold’ button on the right for related posts.

Thank you for sending a ‘Hug To Hold’. Click on the label in the right side bar for info on posting, a tutorial and to grab the button.

  1. What a lovely, lovely idea! I am not very crafty but have a surplus of cuddly toys that look brand new. Would it be okay to send some with a message? I have some cuddly Australia themed ones too; koala, kangaroo, kookabura hand puppet. Would be so nice to gift them in this way. Good on you for promoting this super initiative x

  2. Looks great, Miriam. Well done on pulling it all together so quickly and well!!

  3. I’m totally going to join in! I actually made a couple of cute simple toys for my kids today and they have been playing with them all afternoon. Also, when I was a kid, our town was flooded and we lost all our stuff and my brother & I were given a whole box of toys – and we still have some of them. I’d love to give back the random act of kindness I received years ago by sending some toys I’ve made!

  5. This is a wonderful idea! I’m fairly new to sewing but I’ll see what I can come up with 🙂
